The JB Model SH-4 is one of Seymour Duncan's — and the world's — most popular pickups and provides the classic sound of a hot-rodded humbucker that we've all loved for the last 30 years. Boasting plenty of output without sacrificing tone and adding the right amount of harmonics, sustain, and distortion, the JB Model SH-4 is great for anything from heavy blues to heavy metal — with an emphasis on heavy! But excelling at aggressive music isn't all the SH-4 can do, as it cleans up nicely providing warm, tones. The JB Model SH-4 is built for great tone!

Classic hot-rodded humbucker sound

The archetype hot-rodded humbucker for over 30 years, the JB Model SH-4 is great for everything from heavy blues to heavy metal. As the world's most popular humbucker, the SH-4 provides slammin' output while retaining singing highs, aggressive harmonics, and just the right blend of sustain and distortion. It easily goes from warm tones to raw rock 'n' roll. Compared to the SH-14 Custom 5, the JB has a stronger treble detail. Some players use it with 250K pots to smooth out the highs. The JB Model SH-4 comes with four-conductor hookup cable to facilitate complex pickup switching setups.

Part of a complete Seymour Duncan pickup set

The JB Model SH-4 is recommended for bridge position, and is often paired with a neck pickup like the SH-2n Jazz (Seymour's favorite) for versatility or a SH-1 '59 for PAF tones. The SH-4 is for balanced and warm instruments, and works especially well with rosewood fingerboards.
